Springfield MA seeks public input as it applies for new federal aid to fill unmet needs and make city more 'disaster-resilient'
SPRINGFIELD - City officials, as they prepare to apply for millions of dollars in additional federal disaster aid, are hoping the public will contribute innovative ideas to assist the city's continued recovery and to help Springfield become more resilient to future disasters.
During a meeting with city councilors on Monday, city Public Works DirectorChristopher Cignoli and Director of Disaster Recovery and Compliance Tina M. Quagliatosaid the federal government has strict guidelines as it prepares to award $1 billion nationwide in new disaster aid next year.
