Lianna Jarecki has served the Caribbean community, particularly the British Virgin Islands, for more than two decades as an educator, researcher and program director. She strives to raise capacity for wise decision-making in ecologically sensitive communities. Her varied accomplishments range from directing a seasonal field ecology research station to developing and teaching college-level science curricula. She has contributed to policy development, founded a successful environmental consulting business, and supported the work of non-profit environmental organizations internationally.
Dr. Jarecki now lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and maintains a strong interest in Caribbean biodiversity conservation and community development.
Dr. Jarecki holds a B.S. from Cornell University, an M.S. from the University of Florida, a post-graduate degree in environmental management from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, and Ph.D. in biodiversity management from the University of Kent, U.K.
